Data access policy

Introduction

The INFRA-ART Spectral Library provides access to a diverse collection of spectral datasets, which are freely available for exploration and analysis via an interactive spectra viewer. However, access to the data files is currently restricted to authorized users

This Data Access Policy outlines the conditions under which data stored in the INFRA-ART Spectral Library can be accessed, shared, and used. The goal of this policy is to ensure that data access aligns with institutional guidelines, protects the integrity of the data, and complies with licensing and usage restrictions.

Eligibility for Data Access

Access to the data files in the INFRA-ART Spectral Library is primarily restricted to authorized data curators (e.g., institutional researchers). External users can request access to the data files, subject to the following conditions:

  • • The requesting user must complete a File Access Request Form.
  • • Requests must be approved by the INFRA-ART project coordinator.
  • • Access will be granted based on the relevance of the data to the user’s research and its compliance with institutional and licensing guidelines.

Access Process

  • • Request Submission: External users interested in accessing data must submit a request by emailing the INFRA-ART project coordinator at ioana.cortea@inoe.ro. They must also complete the File Access Request Form that will be provided upon request. The request should include the purpose for accessing the data and how it aligns with the user’s research objectives.
  • • Review and Approval: All requests will be reviewed by the INFRA-ART project coordinator. Approval is based on the alignment of the requested data with the user’s intended use, and the requester's adherence to the terms set forth in this policy.
  • • Access Granted: Upon approval, users will receive the data in universal file format formats (e.g., .ASC and .CSV files). Users can request access to other format, if needed. Access may be subject to specific terms and conditions regarding the use and sharing of the data.

Restrictions on Data Access

  • • Commercial Use: Data provided through the INFRA-ART Spectral Library cannot be used for commercial purposes unless explicitly authorized under separate agreements.
  • • Data Sharing: Users who are granted access to the data are not permitted to share, redistribute, or re-upload the data files to third parties without express permission from the INFRA-ART project coordinator.
  • • Data Modification: Users may not modify, remix, or alter the data in ways that would misrepresent the original content, unless explicitly stated and agreed upon as part of the data access terms.

Compliance and Licensing

  • • By accessing the data, users agree to comply with the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license under which the data is made available.
  • • Users must provide appropriate attribution when using or sharing the data, and they must not use it for any commercial purposes. For more details see our Terms of use.

Data security

  • • Users are responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of the data while in their possession.
  • • Any breach of data security, including unauthorized access, redistribution, or modification, must be reported to the INFRA-ART project coordinator immediately.

Review and Updates

This Data Access Policy is subject to periodic review and updates to reflect changes in data access practices, security requirements, or institutional guidelines. Users are encouraged to review this policy regularly to ensure compliance with the latest terms.
